Tulip Bowl
Tulip Bowl

Is this a good mix of bulbs for winter/spring for my garden?
I thought I would mix them all up in a bowl before I plant them so they are mixed through the garden and not the same in clumps.
Crocus – Winter Flowering
Daffodil & Narcissus – Mini – Collection
Iris – Dwarf Iris Collection
Lily of the Valley
Tulip Blueberry Ripple
They are all for the flower bed except for the Tulips which are going around the base of my tree.
Will they flower year after year?
Great choice, the crocus winter flowering type mystifies me a little, as there are mainly autumn types – Colchicum, and species and hybrid spring types. The species types have smaller flowers, often from early February, the larger hybrids a few weeks later.
Crocus, Daffodils, Narcissus, dwarf Iris and Tulips all divide and expand each year.
The lily of the valley is more of a root grown plant, and divides and spreads really well. They’ll flower a little later than the others, but still a great choice.
If you want a little more choice, you can get some earlier and later flowering tulips. Most of the dwarf Narcissus are earlier flowering, with Tete a Tete being really reliable and very early, if you get a chance to add some separately.
Daffodils and Narcissus are rooting now, so plant these in good time, as with the rest, though Tulips can be reliably planted through November, especially if you have a clay soil, where they may be waterlogged.
Final tip – watch out for grey squirrels which may dig bulbs up.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob

From a supermarket outside Orvieto, we acquired two large, circular pans perfect for cooking risotto and braises. From a market in Lille, we lugged home a fragile haul of French white china, including a cow-shaped Camembert holder, a duck-shaped pâté …
