Registering Gifts For Bridal Shower Parties
If you’ve recently been invited to your first bridal shower, you might be fretting over what presents to get the bride. What kinds of gifts are allowed? What aren’t? Why does everybody else already seem to know what to do? Really, it’s simple you can find gifts for bridal shower parties right on the registry.
How does a registry work? First, the future bride selects her favorite items from a couple of stores, which are then put online through a service provided by each retailer. Only the bridal shower guests can see the list, and the guests are then invited to sign up for the items they would like to give. These items are then crossed off the list, so the bride never has to worry about winding up with two toasters or other duplicate gifts. Instead, perhaps she’ll receive one toaster and one set of Reed and Barton silverware. After all, what’s a piece of toast without the proper butter-spreading implements?
It’s funny, if you were to send out a registered list of gifts for a simple birthday party, most people would think it strange or even tactless, but this process is acceptable when it comes to bridal shower parties. Perhaps this is because the bride-to-be is in the process of beginning a new life with her future husband, which means she pretty much has to start from scratch when it comes to silverware, hostess sets, and other essential items. And if she’s furnishing her new life, she might as well get the items that she wants. One popular choice is Gorham silverware, as Gorham’s classic style allows its products to go with almost anything.
Of course, registries make things easier for gift givers as well. Even when you know a person, it might be difficult to figure out their exact style when it comes to fine china dinnerware or stemware, but with a registry you can view items selected by the future bride herself. This way, you don’t have to guess on brands, colors, patterns, sizes, materials, or anything it’s all on the registry.
Best of all, bridal registries are becoming more useful than ever before, as retailers continue to make it easier for brides to select and edit their registry items. Believe it or not, stores actually have special scanners to help brides register for gifts, allowing them to walk around the store and scan the products they want added to their registry lists.
When you think about how easy registries make it to find gifts for bridal shower parties, it’s kind of surprising that we don’t start using them for other celebrations as well. Just imagine: A Christmas without that requisite sweater from your aunt. A birthday party that didn’t end with a bunch of books you’re never going to read. It would be pretty enjoyable, but for now we have to content ourselves with bridal shower registries that is, until the couple’s first child comes along. Then it’s all about the baby registry!
