Does anyone know where (in the UK) to get a light bulb for a touch lamp that’ll come on in 3 light levels?
I live in Liverpool. I have a touch lamp that the light (used to) comes on in 3 levels of brightness from touching the metal part of the lamp. The light has burnt out. I’ve tried regular light bulbs and they just stay on, they won’t brighten or darken and the light won’t go off. So I’m thinking I need a special light bulb for it, but none of the lighting shops know anything about bulbs for touch lamps. The bulb doesn’t say anything on the top like regular light bulbs but it says 240/60 N805019B on the metal part of the bayonet. Any body know where I might look for a light bulb. I hate to throw away the light, it’s gorgeous. Thanks for helping.
Sorry but it sounds like your light is on the blink. If you are using a regular bulb with a metal fillament then it should dim. the touching of the lamp simply alters the current flowing to the bulb to make it alter in brightness.
If you are using one of the compact flourescent bulbs ( spiral thin tube) then they will only work on one voltage / current and will not dim.
Keep the lamp on full brightness and adjust the level of light by changing to progressively darker sunglasses as the mood determines!

i have a mitsubishi 62350 lcd and am confused .1st mitsubishi tells me it gonna cost all this money to get it to work ,all this over th phone.i just bought lamp 1 month ago and tv would cut off it still cuts off and lamp lights up but if i unplug and plug in it works why?
Best guess: there is a component in your set’s power supply that is failing when it gets warm. That’s very common with virtually any part on a circuit board. It cools down enough when you unplug it that it will work for a while when you plug it back in. Then, the accumulated heat causes the faulty part to open up again.
A TV technician will troubleshoot problems like this with a heat lamp, unless he just decides to replace the entire circuit board (sometimes that’s the cheaper solution). In any case, it’s most likely going to require a repair job by a qualified technician.
